INCORPORATED: 1940 POPULATION: 9,511 (According to the data provided by the City of PI) The City of Presque Isle is located in the central portion of Aroostook County in Northern Maine. Presque Isle has evolved into a regional service center for commerce, business, education, healthcare, and recreation. Situated 42 miles from Interstate 95, Presque Isle is accessed by U. S. Route 1, six state routes, rail and the Northern Maine Regional Airport. The airport provides for daily scheduled air service and general aviation services. The City is home to two colleges: University of Maine at Presque Isle and Northern Maine Community College. Kindergarten through grade twelve education is provided by the nationally recognized Maine School Administrative District (M.S.A.D.) #1. |
