ATLANTA TEAM BUILDING ROPES COURSE EVENT (10/15/07)
The Atlanta Classes of 2008 and 2009 Ronald Simon Family Foundation Scholars enjoyed a day of personal growth and team building at Atlanta Challenge, a ropes course facility in Dunwoody, GA. The scholars faced the seemingly daunting tasks of scaling a 6 element sequence of high ropes, as well as tackling a 50 foot climbing tower that culminated in a 300 foot zip line cruise through trees and over a lake. At first, some scholars lamented that they were afraid of heights and/or doubted their own physical strength and mental fortitude to make such climbs. But, the “Simon Scholar Resolve” shined through for all, and each and every scholar made the climb to meet a personal goal.
Overall, this was a day of character development involving taking risks in a supportive environment, as well as participating in creative problem solving and team building challenges that required trusting fellow scholars. The scholars had a full day to bond, get to know each other, and share food and laughter. But most importantly, it was a day that offered each Simon Scholar a chance to climb to personal heights never reached before.
